Description
The DEIF TRI-2 Panorama Rudder Indicator is a marine bridge instrument designed for clear, long-distance indication of rudder position. Its three large scales are arranged around the indicator to provide a viewing angle of up to 250°, allowing the rudder angle to be read from distances of up to 5 meters. The TRI-2 uses a moving-coil mechanism with three pointers mounted on a common shaft and is designed for ceiling or deck-head mounting on the bridge.
The TRI-2 is available in configurations with analogue input or CAN-based input. It features long-life LED scale illumination and a built-in dimmer, making it suitable for both normal and low-light bridge conditions. DEIF also provides standard black and white scale designs and MED-approved configurations for applicable marine installations.

🔹 Marine Bridge Integration
The TRI-2 is designed to provide direct visual indication of rudder position on the ship’s bridge. The three-pointer arrangement allows the same rudder information to be viewed from multiple positions around the bridge. DEIF documentation describes both analogue and CAN versions, allowing the indicator to be integrated with different rudder-angle signal architectures.
For analogue installations, available configurations can use different voltage or current input ranges depending on the selected version. DEIF documentation also lists TRI-2 variants for different rudder-angle scales, including ±35°, ±45°, ±70° and other configurations. Therefore, the input type and scale range must be matched to the existing rudder-angle transmitter and bridge system.
🔹 Typical Applications
• Ship bridge rudder indication
• Marine propulsion systems
• Steering control systems
• Kongsberg K-Thrust installations
• Commercial vessels
• Offshore vessels
• Marine bridge instrumentation
• Rudder angle monitoring and display
🔹 Installation & Replacement
Before replacing a TRI-2, verify the exact scale range, analogue or CAN interface, wiring arrangement, illumination/dimmer configuration, and vessel-specific rudder-angle system. The TRI-2 is part of a larger rudder indication system that may also include DEIF rudder-angle transmitters and signal-conditioning equipment.
The manufacturer’s installation documentation specifies ceiling mounting and adjustment of the mechanical zero and indication range during commissioning. Installation should follow the vessel’s approved electrical and marine equipment procedures.
