In my experience with the VersaMax line, the 8101-HI-TX-02 is a workhorse, but because it’s high-density, the wiring can get crowded. If you aren’t careful with the common returns, you’ll end up with crosstalk or ground loops that drive your readings crazy.

Phase 1: Preparation (10 minutes)

⚠️ Safety First:

  1. Power down the VersaMax NIU (Network Interface Unit) or CPU rack before insertion.
  2. Confirm your signal types. Mixing 4-20 mA and 0-10 V on the same module is possible, but check your software scaling.
  3. Ensure you have the correct terminal base. The module snaps onto the base, not directly to a rail.

Phase 2: Hardware Setup

  1. Module Alignment: Align the 8101-HI-TX-02 with the guide rails of the terminal base.
  2. The “Click”: Press down firmly until the latches click. A loose module is the #1 cause of “Module Missing” faults in Proficy.
