Installation & Configuration Guide
Stage 1: Pre-Installation Preparation (Approx. 15–20 minutes)
⚠️ Before replacing the CPU, back up the PLC logic first. Seriously… a surprising number of legacy systems still run without updated backups.
- Notify production and maintenance teams
- Place machine or process into safe shutdown mode
- Power down PLC rack and connected expansion racks
- Wait 5–10 minutes for full discharge
Required tools:
- Anti-static wrist strap
- USB-to-RS485 converter
- Fluke 115 multimeter
- Laptop with Proficy Machine Edition
- Label tags and camera
Backup checklist:
- Upload PLC program from existing CPU
- Save hardware configuration
- Record Ethernet IP settings
- Photograph rack slot arrangement
- Record firmware revision
Interesting thing with old 90-30 systems… sometimes the hardware works perfectly, but configuration corruption causes strange behavior after power events. Engineers on Reddit reported losing input visibility after configuration recovery issues.
