Description

The GE IS200TREGH1BDB (commonly referred to as the TREG board) is a specialized Emergency Trip Terminal Board manufactured by General Electric for Speedtronic™ Mark VI and Mark VIe gas and steam turbine control systems. Installed in primary control cabinets, the TREG board interfaces turbine protection relaying, magnetic trip solenoids, and primary/emergency overspeed trip systems.

Primary System Functions

  • Emergency Trip Solenoid Control: Drives fuel shutoff and primary trip solenoids (ETDs – Emergency Trip Devices), providing hardwired power disconnect to close turbine fuel valves upon trip initiation.
  • 2-out-of-3 (2oo3) Hardware Voting: Integrates primary and emergency trip relays in a series/parallel matrix so that a trip command from any two processor channels (<R>, <S>, or <T>) opens the trip header without false trips from a single sensor fault.
  • Electronic Overspeed Protection Interface: Accepts speed signals from Magnetic Speed Pickups (MSPs) and interfaces with protective I/O packs to trigger immediate emergency trip sequences during rotor overspeed conditions.
  • Feedback & Circuit Integrity Monitoring: Continuously monitors trip coil voltage, current flow, and contact feedback states, sending diagnostic telemetry back to the main controllers for alarm tracking.

Servicing & Handling Guidelines

  • Trip Circuit Power Isolation: Solenoid drivers carry high DC/AC operating voltages. Always isolate external power supplies and rack breakers before landing wires or servicing the TREG board to avoid high-voltage hazards.
  • Bypassing & Trip Safety Interlocks: Before performing maintenance or replacing a TREG board on an operating unit, verify that turbine protection overrides/bypasses are active and strictly follow plant lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols to avoid accidental unit trip.
  • ESD & Static Controls: Sensitive control logic and diagnostic ICs require strict ESD protection. Always wear a grounded anti-static wrist strap when handling the board assembly.
  • Connector Strain Relief & Fastening: Ensure all D-sub cable connections to the <R>, <S>, and <T> protective channels are fully seated and secured with jack screws to withstand panel vibration.
