The Techcross ECS-2800X1 serves as the primary Control PC and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) for the Electro-Cleen™ Ballast Water Management System. This industrial computer is responsible for the real-time monitoring and automated control of the electrolysis process, managing TRO (Total Residual Oxidant) sensors, flow meters, and ANU (Auto Neutralization Unit) subsystems to ensure all ballast water discharge meets international environmental safety standards.

Differences from Similar Models
The ECS-2800X1 is a specialized hardware revision that offers several key improvements over the older ECS-2100 or standard ECS-2800 series:
- Processing Speed: The “X1” designation indicates an upgraded processor architecture capable of handling the high data throughput required for larger multi-stream electrolysis units without lag in the HMI.
- Storage Reliability: Unlike earlier versions that utilized standard HDDs, the 2800X1 is equipped with industrial-grade SSDs, providing much higher reliability against the constant low-frequency vibrations found in ship engine rooms.
- Enhanced Graphics: This model supports high-definition graphical rendering for detailed system piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), offering better clarity than the lower-resolution displays of the legacy 2000-series.
- Connectivity Options: The ECS-2800X1 features additional isolated COM ports and dual Ethernet, allowing for simultaneous connection to the ship’s Integrated Automation System (IAS) and the Techcross remote diagnostic tool.
Product Operation Tips
- Safe Shutdown Procedure: Always exit the ECS software and use the “Shutdown” command within the OS before cutting the main power. Abrupt power loss can lead to database corruption in the mandatory data logger.
- Back up Operation Logs: Regularly export the ballast operation logs to an external USB drive. While the SSD is robust, these logs are required for Port State Control (PSC) inspections and must be kept accessible.
- Monitor Ventilation: Ensure the control cabinet’s cooling fans and filters are clean. The ECS-2800X1 processes a high volume of data during ballasting operations, and restricted airflow can lead to thermal throttling and system freezes.
- Peripheral Compatibility: If replacing a mouse or keyboard, use industrial-grade, shielded peripherals. Standard consumer-grade USB devices can sometimes introduce electromagnetic interference that affects the sensitive communication between the PC and the PLC rack.
