How the 3601E Works

The 3601E receives output commands from the Tricon system’s redundant processing architecture. Its three isolated channels independently process the output information, allowing the system to maintain reliable operation when a single fault occurs.

Each output point is monitored by diagnostic circuitry. Voltage-loopback detection can verify the operation of the output switching circuitry even when a normal field load is not present. This helps identify latent output faults before they become a process-control problem.

Because the outputs are non-commoned, each field output is separately wired. Field power must therefore be provided to the individual output points through the appropriate field termination arrangement.
