Description

📌 Product Overview

The TRICONEX 8312 is a 230 VAC power module designed for the Tricon safety and critical control system platform. It converts incoming AC power into regulated DC power for the chassis backplane and installed processor, communication, and I/O modules.

Each compatible Tricon chassis can use redundant power modules, and either power module is capable of supporting the chassis at full rated load when operating within specified conditions. The power module can also be replaced online as part of the system’s power redundancy architecture.

The 8312 is specifically the 230 VAC version of the Tricon power module family. It should not be confused with the 8310, which is designed for 120 VAC/VDC applications, or the 8311, which operates from 24 VDC.

🏭 Typical Applications

Safety Instrumented Systems

The 8312 is used in Tricon safety systems where reliable power delivery is required for processor and I/O operation.

🏭 Process Control Facilities

It can be found in installed Tricon systems used in refineries, petrochemical plants, chemical facilities, and other continuous-process industries.

🛢️ Oil and Gas Applications

Suitable for existing Tricon installations supporting emergency shutdown, process protection, and critical control functions.

🔄 Redundant Power Systems

Two compatible power modules can be installed to provide a redundant power arrangement for the Tricon chassis.

🛠️ Maintenance and Spare Parts

The 8312 is commonly used as a replacement spare when maintaining existing Tricon controller installations.

🔧 Installation and Replacement Notes

🔧 Confirm that the existing power module is model 8312 before replacement.

🔧 Verify that the available incoming power supply is within the 185–285 VAC range.

🔧 Check that the system requires the 230 VAC version rather than the 8310 or 8311.

🔧 Inspect the chassis power-module position and backplane contacts.

🔧 Verify protective-earth and incoming AC wiring before energizing the module.

🔧 Check the redundant power configuration if two power modules are installed.

🔧 Observe the PASS, FAULT, ALARM, TEMP, and BATT LOW indicators after installation.

🔧 Verify alarm contacts and system diagnostics.

🔧 Follow the approved plant safety procedure before servicing a safety-related Tricon system.

⚠️ The 8312 should only be installed in a compatible Tricon chassis and with the correct 230 VAC power configuration. Input-voltage variants should not be substituted without confirming the complete system power architecture.
