The Woodward PG-PL 8550-339MS is a pressure-compensated hydraulic-mechanical governor designed for precise speed control of diesel engines, gas engines, and steam turbines.
The PG-PL governor uses a centrifugal flyweight sensing mechanism, an internal hydraulic oil pump, a pilot valve assembly, and a power cylinder to regulate the fuel rack, fuel valve, or steam valve of the prime mover.
It supports isochronous speed control and pneumatic remote speed setting, making it suitable for industrial power generation, marine propulsion, compressor drives, pump systems, and turbine applications.
The self-contained hydraulic oil system helps maintain stable governor operation. Its mechanical-hydraulic design provides direct control of engine or turbine speed without requiring a conventional electronic PLC controller.
