Product Description
The GE Multilin 469-P5-HI-A20 is a comprehensive digital motor management relay designed for the protection, control, and monitoring of medium and large horsepower motors. It integrates advanced thermal modeling with specific motor-related features like start-inhibit, emergency restart, and complex bearing/stator temperature monitoring via its 12 RTD inputs. This specific configuration features 5A CT inputs and a “High” voltage control power supply, making it compatible with the majority of industrial substation environments.
Application Areas
- Heavy Industry: Protection for large pumps, fans, and compressors in mining and chemical plants.
- Water Treatment: Managing high-capacity intake and distribution pumps.
- Oil & Gas: Control and monitoring of critical induction and synchronous motors.
- Power Generation: Safeguarding auxiliary motors and cooling systems in power plants.
Product Specifications
- Weight: 3.40 kg
- Dimensions: 225 mm x 185 mm x 175 mm (H x W x D)
- Country of Origin: Canada
- Mounting: Draw-out construction for simplified maintenance and replacement.
Operating Precautions
- CT Configuration: Ensure the Phase CT primary and secondary ratios are correctly entered into the settings menu to avoid false overcurrent trips or failure to trip.
- Thermal Modeling: The thermal limit curves must be carefully matched to the motor manufacturer’s safe stall time (hot and cold) to ensure the motor is protected without nuisance tripping.
- RTD Wiring: Use shielded, three-wire RTD connections to minimize noise and ensure accurate temperature readings for bearing and stator protection.
- Draw-out Safety: Before removing the relay from the case, ensure the “CT Shorting” mechanism is functioning to prevent high-voltage arcing on the CT secondaries.
