Product Description
The Woodward easYgen-3400-5 (8440-2078) is a versatile and comprehensive genset control unit designed for a wide range of power generation applications. As a member of the easYgen-3000XT series, it excels in managing individual sets or complex paralleling operations for up to 32 units.
The “P2” designation indicates an advanced feature set, including specialized logic for load sharing, synchronization, and power management. Its large, user-friendly display and rugged construction make it the industry standard for both standby emergency power and prime power co-generation.
Application Areas
- Emergency Standby: Automatic Mains Failure (AMF) and rapid start for hospitals and data centers.
- Distributed Generation: Managing peak-shaving and base-load operations in parallel with the utility grid.
- Island Operation: Controlling multiple generators in remote locations (mines, oil rigs) without grid access.
- Microgrids: Integrating diesel/gas generators with renewable energy sources and battery storage.
Product Specifications
- Weight: 2.15 kg
- Dimensions: 282 mm x 217 mm x 99 mm
- Display: 5.7-inch Color LCD (Graphical)
- Protection Rating: IP66 (Front panel with gasket)
- Country of Origin: Germany
Operating Precautions
- CT Phasing: Ensure the Current Transformers are installed with the correct polarity (K-L/P1-P2); reversed CTs will result in negative power readings and synchronization failure.
- Battery Cranking: The unit is designed to withstand voltage drops during engine cranking, but ensure the battery voltage does not dip below 8V for extended periods to avoid controller resets.
- CAN Bus Termination: For multi-unit paralleling, ensure 120 Ω termination resistors are installed at both physical ends of the CAN communication line to prevent data reflection.
- Phase Rotation: Verify that the generator phase rotation matches the bus/utility rotation before attempting the first automated synchronization.
