Product Description The VESDA VLF-250 is a sophisticated air-sampling smoke detector designed to provide very early warning of fire in small, business-critical spaces. Using a high-efficiency aspirator, the unit continuously draws air from the protected area through a network of sampling pipes into a laser detection chamber. The “LaserFOCUS” technology uses advanced light-scattering logic to ignore dust and nuisance particles while providing high sensitivity to genuine smoke. The VLF-250 is unique for its “out-of-the-box” operation, featuring an ultrasonic flow sensor and an Instant Fault Finder (IFF) display that allows for rapid installation and troubleshooting without the immediate need for a laptop or complex software.
Product Applications This detector is ideal for protecting localized, high-value assets where standard point detectors may be ineffective or difficult to service. Common applications include server rooms, telecommunications hubs, electrical switchrooms, and small archival storage areas. It is also frequently installed in harsh environments like modular power cabins or remote pump stations where air filtration and high-sensitivity detection are required to prevent costly downtime.

Operational Precautions
- Flow Calibration: Upon initial installation, perform an “AutoLearn” session (minimum 15 minutes) to establish the baseline airflow and smoke levels for the specific environment.
- Filter Maintenance: The internal filter is a critical component; the detector will signal a “Filter Fault” when it becomes saturated. Replace the filter immediately to prevent damage to the laser optics.
- Pipe Sealing: Ensure all pipe joints are solvent-welded (except the connection to the detector itself) to maintain the vacuum pressure required for accurate air sampling.
- Power Source: Use a dedicated fire-rated power supply with battery backup. If the 24V supply is noisy or unstable, it can cause false flow faults or communication errors on the signaling loop.
