The Emerson SE3008 (board assembly number KJ2005X1-SQ1, part number 12P6383X022) is an SQ Controller Card designed for Emerson’s DeltaV™ Distributed Control System (DCS). Mounted in the controller slot of a DeltaV carrier, the SE3008 provides execution of real-time control logic, manages fieldbus and local I/O module scanning, and maintains deterministic communication over the dual-redundant DeltaV Control Network.

Primary System Functions
- Real-Time Control Strategy Execution: Runs continuous PID loops, discrete sequence control, custom logic blocks, and ISA-88 batch recipes configured in DeltaV Control Studio.
- Dual-Redundant Control Network Management: Interfacing with two distinct Ethernet channels (Network A and Network B) ensures uninterrupted communication with DeltaV ProPlus engineering stations and operator HMIs.
- Bumpless Redundancy Switchover: When deployed in a side-by-side 1oo2 redundant pair on a redundant carrier, the active card continuously mirrors memory and process states to the standby card for instant, bump-free failover.
- I/O Bus Scanning: Communicates with local and extended DeltaV I/O carriers, scanning analog, discrete, HART, and FOUNDATION Fieldbus signals to process variables and drive outputs.
Servicing & Replacement Guidelines
- ESD & Anti-Static Precautions: Onboard CMOS processors, flash memory, and network physical layers are sensitive to static electricity. Always use a grounded anti-static wrist strap during handling.
- Live Replacement in Redundant Setup: In a redundant pair, a failed card can be removed and replaced without shutting down process control. The replacement card automatically receives firmware and configuration data from the active controller.
- Simplex Mode Shutdown & Download: For non-redundant (simplex) controllers, replacement requires a planned process shutdown. Once the new card is installed, perform a controller download via DeltaV Explorer/Diagnostics.
- Firmware Matching: Verify and upgrade the replacement card’s firmware using the DeltaV Controller Upgrade Utility so that its software baseline matches the DeltaV system release running on the ProPlus workstation.
